Currently May

May 20th, 2012

I’m finally linking up to Farley’s Currently May over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade.  I’m excited that she gets to stay in 4th grade again.

Maybe next year I will get to work with her more!

LOL I found a typo. I should have said a MAID NOW…not vacuum. lol :) I guess I was thinking about what was next on my to-do list.

A Long Hiatus

May 20th, 2012

My break from blogging is over.

I try not to blog unless I have something nice to say (words of wisdom from the movie Bambi).  I still can’t think of many nice things, but I wanted to catch up on the past month.

I turned 30 on April 28th.  I’d be a liar if I said this didn’t bother me.  THIRTY?  I am in the phase of being neither young or old. Just in my thirties.

I feel like I should go buy a house or have some sort of minor cosmetic surgery to celebrate the milestone.  Botox?

Despite my dread of the new number, we had a great weekend.

Farm Boy and I met my parents in Dallas to celebrate.  There was a lot of eating and more eating.

Birthday Celebration Weekend Day 1

Our first food adventure was in the Bishop Arts District at Eno’s Pizza.

Farm Boy's favorite bridge in Dallas

Mom and dad, or as Sherman calls them Nana and Papa

A Yummy pizza place in Bishop Arts District

The famous Chocolate Sack Sundae

While the pizza was yummy, the most delicious part was the dessert.  As you can see the Chocolate Sack sundae was HUGE! Trying to tackle the chocolate sack was half the fun.

I’d love to go back to the Bishop Arts district and try several other places. We were able to have brunch the next morning at the Mockingbird Lane Cafe Brazil, but there is also one found in this cute block.

What is your favorite place to eat in Dallas?

A Break

May 1st, 2012

I haven’t posted in awhile. I probably won’t until this weekend.

Though I’ve had lots of fun in the past 2 weeks to write about (STAAR testing,  Turning THIRTY!?!, Fun trip to Dallas, 5K, Meeting my blog idol) but I am too tired and negative to be at the computer for long. This is the time of year when I am ready to take down the bulletin board borders, pack my boxes, and move along with life. Five more weeks, and I will have completed my least enjoyable/successful teaching year. :(  I am sad and tired.  I also just binged on a box of Honey Nut Chex again, but that isn’t so bad.

So all that to say I will be posting again Saturday. Until then I plan to overeat on the couch while watching Real Housewives of Atlanta/New Jersey/Orange County.  Someone should really do a Real Housewives of Houston or Dallas…it would be sooo much DRAMA!

The One Where I Get More Than I Asked For

April 22nd, 2012

Remember over Spring Break when I claimed I was going back to blonde?

And then the dude doing my hair was chicken and it was still brown?

WELL…

I am not only blonde now…I’m borderline surf girl platinum. Somebody get me a board and a wetsuit!

(Cue the screams while looking in the mirror)

OH man. I am redefining the term Teacher Barbie. This is not a happy face. This is my Oh Daliene face.

Let me say something else about the above picture.  I posted it on FB, and everyone seemed to like the hair.  This picture was taken under fluorescent lighting in my bathroom, which adds some yellow.  This actually helps the look of my hair, giving it some warmer yellow tones…not the sad, gray, overly bleached locks I’m truly sportin :(

Friday night I tried another new salon. I had stopped this colorist on the sidewalk outside her salon a few weeks ago (I know…I’m crazy) because I loved her hair and I wanted it. You see, the problem in San Antonio I’ve found it most people have DARK hair, and I need someone who love BLONDE hair.

What I did not want was to have to sit in the chair, overprocessing by only god knows how long because she was working on another client at the same time. (Shoot me now)

She also decided to use about 2,000 foils, leaving very little dark/natural color.  This creates an all over blonde. Something I’m not used to.

Life lesson learned. Never get your hair done on a Friday night. You’ll be too tired to think about what is going on to defend yourself.

SO-I sit here with perfect blond roots…which should look just lovely in about 4 weeks, OMG.

My biggest fear is going to work tomorrow. I know people are gonna freak out.  It is pretty drastic.  Most people won’t remember that a little over a year ago I was almost this blonde.  They just remember the Katy Perry look I’ve been sportin.

Sunday Comics

April 15th, 2012

I don’t read the newspaper on Sunday morning. I Pinterest instead (while drinking a HUGE cup of coffee).

I have lost count of the number of friends who are pregnant right now!

I wish I taught high school kids. I’d make them memorize this motto for HW.

Somebody needs a copy of this in their mailbox…am I right teacher barbie friends?

Let’s be honest here… Today I am a little fatter due to the half dozen Krispy Kremes I crammed in my face yesterday. I actually made a u turn off of I 10 to go get some. This is a problem people.

April Book Club

April 12th, 2012

My favorite librarian Mrs. P posted this!

Doesn’t that look like Sherman sitting under a hammock!?

Due to my schedule lately, I’ve read less than usual.

I FINALLY finished this book.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED it.  The ending was a little abrupt, but I seriously laughed out loud through the entire book.

I also want to become a Mennonite now.  Ok, not really. Quaker maybe.

I always did enjoy a middle part.

This month I made up my own book club, and  I am reading a new book (I have no idea how I found out about this book…I think it was in a magazine).

My favorite quote is an Eleanor Roosevelt quote, so I thought it fitting to read a book inspired by the quote:

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”—Eleanor Roosevelt

This is easy for me.  I seem to have a talent for getting myself in the frightening situations.

I look forward to reading the rest of the book. The beginning is fun because she starts writing during her fUNemployment. This blog started due to my fUNemployment. Wow. A year goes by quickly!

I’d love to hear what you are all reading!  I want to reread all of The Hunger Games books this summer!

The One Where I Kick Myself

April 11th, 2012

Let’s see who can figure out what happened based on the pictures below.

No, Kim Kardashian isn’t crying because someone called her stupid.

It was just the ugliest crying picture I could find.

If you guessed I OWED money this year to the IRS, you win…nothing! Because I’m broke now.

Now for some of my favorite tax related somecards!

Move ya Body

April 10th, 2012

Last night I ran 9 minutes straight without walking. That is right, I used the word ran.   I was NOT a turtle yesterday.

I finally found a route nearby without a major hill every other block.  This greatly improved my speed and energy.

Needless to say I am PUMPED.

Ok, well…I was tired and I’m ready for summer break,  but who is counting days?

I purchased these guys to help me with my soreness.

I feel a little duped on the massage ball. It is like a glorified hacky sack. I won’t lie, it felt pretty good when the guy at Fleet Feet showed me how to massage my bum to prevent sciatica and other problems…I didn’t tell him about my granny hips.  Apparently this company is out of Austin! GO TEXAN!

UPDATE:  A MAN DID NOT PHYSICALLY MASSAGE MY BUM…he massaged his own (You pretty much are just sitting on the hacky sack on your cheek and then doing stretches from there to help that muscle area).  Not that I am inexperienced with strange men touching my bum.

Speaking of pain in the ass neck,  we are on the downhill slope of state testing. Two more weeks, and this drill sergeant can go back to being her normal self (and possibly blogging daily?!?).

OK, so I have 10 minutes to do my hair and makeup and NOT be late to school.

April 8th, 2012

For some reason this post didn’t auto post.  It is never too late for Pantone Easter Eggs.

Happy Belated Easter!

These are the most fabulous eggs I’ve ever seen.

I’ll be making iced sugar cookies via i am baker. Her icing is my favorite!

Hunger Games

April 7th, 2012

I FINALLY went to see The Hunger Games movie! Farmboy didn’t want to ruin the characters in his mind, so S and E met me for a movie matinee.

Nice to see that they were all just as hot in the movie as this picture. I did not think I was going to like Josh Hutcherson as Peeta (I personally think Liam Hemsworth fits more with my idea of Peeta, but he works as Gail too) but by the end of the movie I had a book crush just the same. LOL Anyways, they didn’t quite follow the book, but what movie adaptation does?  It has been almost a year since I read these, so I confused some things from book 2, but that is ok-I can’t wait to see it!!!

Overall I would say WATCH IT, because the costuming in the Capitol was enough to make me squeal with glee.  It will be very interesting to see the rest of the series.
