Thanksgiving 2011

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s daily posts on FB about what they are thankful for. I didn’t jump on the bandwagon, but here are some things that I am thankful to have.

I am thankful for free time to spend outside and enjoy the fall weather. (Even if that means sweatin it out in 85 degree heat in the S.A.)

I am thankful for my family.

I love my lil bro too, but he is too busy playing Mr. Basketball in NYC this week to be photographed. That is ok because we saw you on ESPN 2 and Channel 9 tonight!!!! Just to keep you in check, I will post embarrassing kid photos. He’s so cute!

Sherman- I am thankful for having a break from mommy duties when your PaPa is around.

Farm Boy- I know I’m not supposed to post you on the blog, but I am very thankful for you. You look handsome rockin the Paul Bunyan beard/ Movember moustache. I hope you win the contest!!!

We make a good team.

I’m off to get some sleep before the food fest begins.

Dressing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. Do you call it Stuffing or Dressing?

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

The Great Wall

Things have been busy around here. I wanted to share some Teacher Barbie photos to show what I’ve been up to lately.

The Great Wall is not writer’s block. I’ve had plenty to say and do. Just not happy stuff.

This is not a teacher blog, but I am a teacher. We recently completed a Core Knowledge integrated study unit on Ancient China. We had a parent night to share our work.

Weeee Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. Candy corn. Costumes. Cooler Weather. Candy Corn. Orange and Black (team colors!)

It’s exciting.

So is dressing up your dog!

HAAAAAAHAAAAA That is right people. I spent the first half hour after I got home from a long day of work posing the Sherms with some Pinkalicious Pumpkins.

Tuesday Confessions: Dirty

I have a confession. I have planned in advance not to wash my hair. I am too tired after spending 7am to 8pm at school today to explain all the details why, but if I don’t explain a little this post will seem even more silly. I’m silly. Sleepy silly.

I do this quite often though.

I don’t know why I’m confessing about my dirty hair.

I have a dirty hair scale I’ve created in my mind. Like a rubric for all my Teacher Barbies out there.

It includes things like…

What time of day did I was my hair yesterday or today? (The later the better)

Did I eat in any restaurant that made my hair stinky? (Greasy Spoon joints like Jim’s or Mela Indian food)

Did I put my hair up in a bun during planning and now have a giant crease in the back of my hair?

Can said crease be hidden by putting it back in a bun?

Can simply braiding or pinning my bangs back cover it up?

Does anyone give a *@#$? (No)

See all the decisions that go into washing hair?!!?

I have complicated the situation by cutting bangs again. I LOOOOVVVEEEE chunky bangs. One problem. She didn’t cut mine chunky enough. They are very 2nd grade cute cut, not hippy 70′s wannabe cut.

Bangs get durty. Fast. I notice this more now that I am Katy Perry brown.

Using cleavage, I mean flowers to distract us from your dirty bangs?

I love Katy Perry.

Have no fear friends. I will not be stinkin up the place too badly.

I know it is best not to wash your hair everyday, but to help I use THIS STUFF!!!

I highly recommend it (and you can find it at Walgreens and Target)!

And because I haven’t LMAO enough today, you must watch this kid sing my favorite Katy Perry song (Yes it has been around a long time…still funny to me) Why didn’t he download the lyrics!? lol

Shall We Dance

Several months ago, my sweet friend Melissa let me practice using my new camera the night of her daughter’s prom. I was still using auto back then, but there were some sweet moments regardless.

Today was the first day I sat and played with Photoshop CS5 for an extended time (try 7 hours). Several bad youtube videos later, I realized I’m in over my head, but it was still fun. Obviously life has been crazy and busy since April, but at least I edited some before she graduated from High School! lol

I’ll be dreaming of layers (not the cake kind unfortunately).

Here are some of my favorite shots.

I’m still trying to figure out my “look” with post processing. Some of these are too soft, but I don’t like too punchy color either.

The black and white shot was my favorite.

Nail Art

Thanks to my sweet friend Michelle, who convinced me to ditch the pile of shiz on my desk and go get that pedicure! I had to hide my hands from the manicurist, cause I didn’t have time for both. Ok, actually I didn’t want to leave the massage chair and my chat buddy.

I’m a freak and take in my own polish. Germs freak me out. I found this great place thanks to another awesome Teacher Barbie, and I’ve got to say it seems SUPER clean. I almost always have a MM if I see anything questionable in those places.

SO I have happy feet ready to dance my way through lesson plans and writing notebooks.

I’m now sportin my fall look!

I love Essie polish. This one is called Mink Muffs. My pedi turned out darker after two coats. This pic is from Pinterest, and apparently the cool thing to do is take pictures of your nail polish and post it there. lol
