May Book Club

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

I don’t really go to book club anymore. I just pretend now.

Look! It’s me talking to my imaginary book club friends!

This monthI am hooked on the Divergent series.

I found out about the Divergent series through one of my favorite blogs Peanut Butter Fingers.

She wrote about it a month ago, and I’ve been on the lookout for this book every time I went to the store since.

Divergent is a good mix of Hunger Games and Twilight.  In other words it is set in a future dystopian society and there are two whiny teenage characters. There is even some biting involved, but not in a vampire way. Right up my alley!

My favorite part of the book deals with the premise that each person living in this modern-day Chicago must choose a faction to join based on their character. Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, Erudite, and Candor. I was trying to figure out which one I fall under. I have a feeling I am not Candor, but maybe a little of Amity and Dauntless combined. Or maybe I’m like Tris…you’ll have to read to see what that means (or get out a dictionary)!

While everyone else on the planet seems to be reading 50 Shades of Naughty, I am busy diving in to the second book Insurgent.

So far so good.

While I cannot say it as good as The Hunger Games, it has filled the void in my book lover heart that has been there ever since finishing Mockingjay last summer.

I cannot wait for summer to get here. I usually “read” two audio books on my way to my parent’s house and back, plus I read the entire time I’m there.

Look out Nana, I plan to be invading your house soon!

What summer reading do you have planned?
