The Shoe Club = Shoe Heaven

Today I PR’d! Not that this is difficult when your run at a turtle’s pace.

We did it NOBO2! We ran through the hottest summer in history!

I enjoyed the Sunrise 5K at the Alamo Heights Pool. It was the most crowded race I’ve done in awhile. I unfortunately started out too far in the front of the pack with the rabbits, and this killed me in my time by the last mile…so tired!  Farm Boy was waiting for me at the last 300 meters and actually ran alongside me, that is until I waved him off cause I thought I needed all the air I could get. I was so HOT! My personal trainer ran the race as well, and waited to “cheer” me on at the end.

Even Instagram can’t hide my tired eyes! lol This is Lauren my trainer. If you don’t know me, she is obviously the fitter one. :)

Typically when we workout she is all sweet and positive. Today she was standing about 100 meters from the finish line and she gave me the meanest “DON’T SLOW DOWN” yell I’ve ever heard. It worked. I hauled it in at 35 mins and 45 seconds. That is an 11:31 min mile pace. Not bad. My new turtle name is Trot. Trot the Tortoise or Hot to Trot?

After running the Sunrise 5K this morning, I was starving…for NEW SHOES!

I needed to replenish all those "nutrients" I lost while running. ;)

Luckily, this is tax-free weekend in Texas. This can only mean one thing.

Every store is packed and likely out of your size.

Unless you are smart like me, and you go to the local stores like The Shoe Club in the Quarry Market area (across from the Quarry).

I left with THREE pairs of fabulousness.

Black and Gold-My old High School Colors!

Because sometimes you need Silver

I’m in love my new ballet flats. I could probably buy a pair in every color if I won the lottery. They are buttery soft, with enough flexibility to wear comfortably. I will have to see if they pass the teacher death stand test.

The third pair is the most fabulous, but I’m saving them for after Labor Day.  I’ll give you a hint.

They are from the fall TOMS collection.

Did you do any Back to School Shopping this weekend?

How to Celebrate the End of Summer School

This is how we do it in the SA!  Viva la Margarita!

Farmboy treated me to a delicious dinner at SoLuna since I didn’t go TeacherNinja on any 8th graders!

Best tortilla soup in San Antonio @SoLuna

I am excited to really begin summer break! I suppose as long as I teach in San Antonio, I will never have a break during the month of June.

I am also proud to say I finished 2.75 miles this morning with my No Boundaries running group.

Thanks Christina for the photo!

Where’s Waldo?

I’m the tiny head at the top of the stairs in a white hat. Seriously, I do not look good at 7am with no makeup. Pull that hat over those dark circles girlfriend!

Actually,  I think my eyes are closed! lol

Here I am waving at my mentor. I will probably have nightmares about giant flying fish! OH and I am NOT 8 months pregnant. The shirt is pooching out because I’m waving (not because I eat cookies for breakfast).

I’m excited to be heading to OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOklahoma where the wind comes sweeping over the hills (there are no plains where I grew up).

Quote of the Day

Saturday, June 9th, 2012

This morning was 2 mile long run with hills from Fleet Feet.
It didn’t go so well for me.  I thought I was going to die on the last hill.  Not sure if the smurf socks helped or not today.

It was all worth it though just to hear this conversation once we were back inside the store.

Lady 1: Have you seen these Moving Comfort Sports bras?

Lady 2: Yeah, they are nice, but they aren’t very cute.

Lady 1: It’s not about cute it is about protecting the girls.

Lady 2: Oh I know honey, I paid big bucks for these things, I am definitely going to protect them.

Then I found this little gem.

Had I only seen this ad earlier I could have thrown that into the conversation!

NOW It is time to drink my coffee and make an omelet.

What are your Saturday plans?

That’s a Wrap

This school year is officially over! Keys turned in, files stacked and passed along, headaches doctored.
I am DONE!

I am so happy to be finished with a less than thrilling year.

I have been tired, cranky, negative and mean.  Time to close that door and look for another one! Ok, enough about that. I do not ever want to blog or talk again about this year. lol I am DONE!

ON to my summer blogging fun!

This morning was my No Boundaries 2 long run at Olmos Basin.

Do you see me? I’m the chubby girl on the left in a white hat. I’ve noticed since I’ve gained so much weight I have really squinty eyes. lol

I cannot say enough great things about this group. I am so impressed with how upbeat and positive they all are. The mentors (in red) keep us moving and it almost feels too easy at this point (it isn’t easy, but having a group makes it go by quickly).  I also love that they have a Walk Fit group for people who are wanting to be active. It is so inspiring watching them work it on the course. YOU GO LADIES! Their mentor Mari is hilarious.

The only complaint I have is that one lady brings her greyhound named Baron to run on Wednesdays and Saturdays (see him up front!).  This gives me new puppy fever.  As I’ve mentioned before, I have no interest in babies…just more puppies (or rescue greyhounds in this case). He is SO sweet and quiet. I love watching him jog along.  My mom (Sherman’s Nana) says I’m not allowed to get another dog because Sherman would no longer be the center of attention.

I'm King of this Castle

I guess rescuing a giant greyhound will just have to wait.

After running almost 2 miles, we were treated to hot and ready STARBUCKS!

You cannot beat that.

I made my traditional post-Saturday run stop here:

This bakery is DELICIOUS! I had a Cheddar Bacon Scone

and bought a Carrot Pecan Muffin for later.  To increase my own muffin top of course.

I stopped by Target to get a new swimsuit.  I plan to spend time reading at the pool around 9am most mornings…before the little children are up and and wreaking havoc at the apartment pool.

Picture this suit with about 40 more lbs! Super Sexy

Since I plan on finishing Insurgent (book 2 of the Divergent series) this weekend, I bought this book to take to the pool.

This book looks creeptastic!

Here is the book description on

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Freaky!  The book is filled with all these strange but real black and white photos too!

As you can see, I’m ready for summer.

What are you looking forward to most this month?
